Being You
When pressure hits, being you often fades. Players chase stats, coaches watch the scoreboard, and parents focus on results. When that happens, performance drops — not from lack of care, but from losing who we are. Distractions pull our focus in every direction. True focus means giving all your attention to the next pitch.
The Cost of Being You
Being you takes courage. It means letting go of mistakes and not jumping ahead. But when you trust the moment, everything flows. On and off the field, when you’re real with people, they feel it. The noise fades. Trust grows.
What It Gives
The best coaches and leaders aren’t perfect — they’re genuine. They listen, notice, and care. That’s being you — making others feel seen and valued.
How to Practice It
Before a game pause and say: “This moment gets the real me.”
· When pressure rises, breathe.
· When someone speaks, listen.
It sounds simple — but it’s not. Most players don’t need more advice. They just need themselves.
